Lots of our guests ask if they can fish in Crawford Pond.

The short answer: you can try!

I do not personally fish but I see others fishing in the pond all the time. Do they catch anything? No idea!

We do ask, of course, that you’re extremely careful with any and all fishing line, lures, hooks, etc. We don’t want other people or animals to get injured!

I asked some White Mountain fishing fans about other good spots and here is the advice I received:

Thorne Pond, Bartlett, NH

Thorne Pond Conservation Area is located on Route 302 in Bartlett, right across from the Attitash’s Bear Peak/Grand Summit Hotel entrance. There is a small parking lot which I’ve never seen full. Thorne Pond serves as a designated pond for catch-and-release fishing, where stocked fish are available. It’s steps away from the Saco River, where you can swim and enjoy the picturesque views. I love the trails in this area all year round as they are peaceful and easy! Thorne Pond is about a 2 minute ride from the condo.

“Big Rock,” Bartlett NH

Located on River Street in Bartlett Village is a swimming and fishing spot. It has a huge rock near the bridge, hence the name. I see people fishing here all the time! Please be courteous of swimmers, of course. Big Rock is about a 5 minute ride from the condo.

Silver Lake has a nice park and trails to walk around. The lake falls under the category of a fishery that supports both coldwater and warmwater species. Some of the observed fish species found in the lake consist of rainbow trout, lake trout, lake whitefish, smallmouth bass, chain pickerel, and horned pout. Silver Lake Map

If you enjoy using a spinning reel for fishing, Echo Lake is a great option. Echo Lake offers a large and stunning water body where you can enjoy activities like kayaking, fishing, and swimming. For convenience sake, try to book your parking pass in advance. Echo Lake Map

Crystal Lake, Eaton, NH

Crystal Lake is extremely picturesque and has a nice beach and picnic area. Fishermen are frequently seen at the first bridge (not where people swim but on the other side of the bridge). Crystal Lake Map

It’s important to note that fishing rules and regulations in New Hampshire may vary throughout the year. Before embarking on a fishing trip, be sure to obtain the latest and most accurate guidelines for the current season. The local regulations determine various aspects, including permissible fishing times, maximum allowable fish size, limits on the number of fish you can keep, and additional details.

Wherever you fish, make sure you have your NH State Fishing License!
